CLEO’S CABIN PRESCHOOL was named in memory after my lovely and fancy Grandma (Cleo) Peterson. She loved all things shiny, colorful and unique. She loved gardens and flowers and had a way of making all of us grandkids feel like they were her favorite one. She loved to learn new things.  She was deaf since she was 2 weeks old and talked to us using American Sign Language.  Who Cleo was, is the mantra of Cleo’s Cabin Preschool. At Cleo’s Cabin we will learn many new and exciting things. Including but not limited to; American Sign Language, crafts, gardening and art.  I will do my best to make certain that each student feels like they are my favorite one.

Now all about ME! My name is Amee Wright.  I have a BS degree in Child Development and a minor in Health Promotion with an emphasis with children at risk. I founded Caring Corner Dayc School in 2002 and ran it successfully for 5 years.  I sold it when I was expecting my third child so I could stay home with my own babies for a few years.  I taught preschool for the Head Start Program for six years and taught kindergarten readiness skills and helped with interventions for children that we felt might need additional services in the public school system. I believe in a holistic approach to learning and value the intelligence of the entire child. I taught kindergarten for Ogden City School district for three years. Two of those years I taught New Bridge School where I learned how to teach STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and Project Based Learning to young children. I also know exactly what children need to know to be successful in kindergarten. Sadly, the kindergarten era of milk and cookies is over and a lot more is expected of our kindergarteners now.

I love children and I love teaching in a small group type setting. I understand the development of children and understand the importance of structured preschool as well as providing free play options. I am so excited to have the opportunity to teach your child.
