A 3 year old student of mine watched me fold a blanket and tried to copy exactly what I did. He was so proud of the result. By the photo below you will see that the blanket I folded and the blanket he folded look very different. However, they were folded with the same amount of love and effort. He stacked his carefully folded blanket on top of mine. Beamed with pride. Hugged me and said "I love you!" As much as I ALWAYS want to refold blankets "my way," I have learned over the years that it really doesn't matter what the blankets look like. What matters is the effort that went into the folding. Clearly a 3 year old will fold a blanket different than an adult. . . . And truth be told, If I was at your house helping you fold blankets and YOU refolded the blanket that I carefully folded, that would be the last time I would help you fold blankets. lol.
What I learned from this experience is to appreciate the efforts of my young students. . . .and maybe my 13 year old really does THINK her mess of a room is clean.
THANK YOU TO MY STUDENTS FOR REMINDING ME ABOUT WHAT IS REALLY IMPORTANT EVERY DAY. I LOVE YOU ALL!
